We schedule appointments for children under six years old in the morning for two important reasons: First, young children respond much more favorably and have the best experience when well rested and secondly, we encourage parents to accompany their child into the operatory during morning visits. Patients seen in the afternoon are usually older, allowing us to accommodate school schedules. For your younger child's benefit please keep this in mind.
If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately. We ask that you give us 24 hours notice. A failed appointment fee will only be assessed when no notice is given to the office.
We recognize that an emergency may arise that will require immediate care. We will do our best to respond promptly. Call us as early in the day as possible. If we receive a call at 8 a.m., we will be able to see your child early that morning. For after-hour emergencies, call us at (978) 443-5431 and you will be told how to reach the dentist on call.
Financial Arrangements and Insurance
We are a "fee for service" dental practice. We thank you for paying for treatment on the day that services are rendered to you. We are in the network for Delta Dental (Premier plan only), Altus Dental, and BC/BS of MA. We accept many other private insurances, however, the patient will be responsible for "out of network" co-payments.
If you have any questions, please speak with front desk personnel by calling 978-443-5431.
Arrangements Concerning Fillings
If your child is diagnosed with a cavity the material used for a filling will be either resin (tooth colored) or amalgam (silver). We charge the same for an amalgam and a resin filling, however your insurance company may not pay for a resin filling at the same level as amalgam or in some cases will not pay at all for resin fillings.
Resin fillings are not a covered expense for Delta Dental Plan and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts.
Even if your insurance plan will pay for the resin filling at the amalgam (silver filling) rate, there will still be a significant co-payment due to contractual constraints imposed upon us. This co-payment is the member’s responsibility. All plans are different and it is very important, if finances are a concern, to file a pretreatment estimate with your insurance. We will be happy to do that for you at your request. A phone call to your insurance company may not give you an accurate answer.
